When it comes to hospitality, we believe happy staff equals happy customers.
Every year at CODE, we survey the industry to produce our Happiness in Hospitality report. This year we asked over 700 hospitality professionals one key question: why do you work in hospitality?
Anyone who works in the industry knows a career in hospitality is often more about just the pay cheque they take home. The reasons people are drawn into the industry and are compelled to stay are more emotive: it’s all about people and making them happy. But of course, we must make sure our teams are happy in the first place.
At CODE our mission is to promote hospitality as a viable and sustainable career in Britain. We started the CODE appbecause we believe it’s fundamental for anyone who works in restaurants, pubs, bars and hotels to be able to experience excellent hospitality in other venues. This is how we learn, and how we develop and grow our networks. Typical CODE offers range from 25% off total bill, to 50% off food in participating restaurants, to £150 overnight stays at five-star hotels. Not only does this allow hospitality professionals to learn more about the industry but it also helps them enjoy their days off and save money.
In our Happiness in Hospitality report this year, 67% of respondents cited ‘passion’ as the reason they entered the industry. People work in hospitality because they love it. To have a workforce that love their jobs is something we must embrace and promote.
Fruit and vegetable supplier Natoora reward their staff with CODE membership because ‘it’s a perk that unites our community’. Spanish restaurant group Iberica also commented: ‘the CODE app is a great way for our colleagues to discover great venues and learn more about our industry’.
CODE membership starts from as little as £3.99 per month. For more information on rewarding your staff with membership to the CODE app, please contact Maitland Murray: maitland@codehospitality.co.uk
