Renowned for their exceptional Champagnes, Famille Moutard’s winemaking mastery now extends beyond the borders of Champagne into the revered terroirs of Burgundy – and both are exclusively available in the UK through Lanchester Wines, a leading trade only wine merchant.
As part of our 2025 portfolio, we are proud to introduce a new collection of Burgundy wines from Famille Moutard, alongside a rare and elegant Ratafia liqueur. These wines not only reflect the region’s distinct personalities but also showcase the craftsmanship, heritage and precision that have defined the Moutard name for generations.
From the Chalky Soils of Champagne to the Slopes of Burgundy
Champagne lovers will already be familiar with Famille Moutard’s meticulous approach to winemaking. With roots in the village of Buxeuil in the Côte des Bar dating back to 1642, the Moutard family has built a reputation for crafting complex, expressive Champagnes, from the refined Grande Cuvée Brut to the adventurous Cuvée des Six Cépages, which blends six of the eight permitted Champagne grape varieties.
This pursuit of excellence led François Moutard to purchase vineyards in Burgundy in 2004, giving rise to a new chapter in the family’s legacy. With a firm commitment to sustainability, precision viticulture and site-specific expression, Famille Moutard’s Burgundy wines reflect both the tradition of the region and the family’s forward-thinking approach.
A Curated Selection of Fine Burgundies
The new still wine range features a carefully curated selection of Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs and regional specialities. These include:
- Chablis AOC and Chablis Premier Cru Côte de Léchet – classic, mineral-driven wines that express the purity of northern Burgundy.
- Bourgogne Chardonnay AOC and Bourgogne Tonnerre AOC – vibrant and textured expressions of Burgundy’s iconic white grape.
- Bourgogne Pinot Noir AOC and Gevrey-Chambertin AOC – showcasing both early-drinking charm and cellar-worthy finesse.
- Aligoté AOC and Saint-Bris Sauvignon Blanc AOC – two lesser-known varieties offering fresh, food-friendly alternatives for wine lists looking to stand out.
While the Premier Cru Chablis and Gevrey-Chambertin will satisfy Burgundy connoisseurs, the Aligoté and Saint-Bris provide a point of difference for sommeliers and buyers seeking to surprise and delight their customers.
A Rare Taste of Tradition: Ratafia Champenois
Alongside the still wines, we’re delighted to introduce Ratafia Champenois Six Cépages — an artisanal, sweet liqueur crafted from six Champagne grape varieties: Arbane, Chardonnay, Petite Meslier, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. Rich, smooth and deeply aromatic, this is an exceptional digestif and a standout addition to any fine drinks menu.
A Partnership Built on Family Values
Benoît Moutard, winemaker and son of François Moutard , comments:
“Twenty years ago, my father saw the potential of Burgundy and expanded our winemaking with the same care and precision we apply to our Champagnes. We’re proud to share this next generation of wines with our long-standing UK partners, Lanchester Wines, a business that, like ours, remains family-owned and passionately independent.”
Mark Roberts, Director of Sales at Lanchester Wines, adds:
“The success of our Moutard Champagnes has been phenomenal, and we’re thrilled to now be offering these exceptional still wines to our customers. They’re a perfect fit for premium hospitality, elegant, distinctive and steeped in family tradition.”
This exciting launch cements the collaboration between two family-run businesses – Famille Moutard and Lanchester Wines – united by a shared commitment to quality, heritage and innovation.
