The four-star deluxe St Ermin’s Hotel in London’s St James’ Park today announces James Clark as the new Hotel Manager.
Following his training at the De Vere Academy of Hospitality, James spent the last 13 years in senior management roles within the hotel industry. During his time with Hyatt Hotels, James led both the Andaz London Liverpool Street and Great Scotland Yard Hotel to record customer service results and top TripAdvisor ratings.
James joins St Ermin’s Hotel from The Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel, part of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection, and brings with him a wealth of management experience and a passion for generous hospitality. James is currently an active Committee Member at the AICR UK and Mentor at the Institute of Hospitality.
“I am delighted to be starting my new position as manager of the iconic St Ermin’s Hotel. It’s a fascinating hotel with an intriguing past and is world-renowned for its high level of customer service,” said James.
With a glamorous heritage, eclectic styling, gorgeous rooms and suites, the enigmatic Caxton Bar and Terrace plus award winning signature restaurant, The Caxton Grill, the St. Ermin’s Hotel is a distinctly individual, contemporary and welcoming offering. The hotel is dog-friendly and the welcome has even extended to bees with the opening of London’s only ‘Bee & Bee’ hotel alongside the hotel’s resident Buckfast bee hives on the third floor wildflower terrace.
In addition, the hotel’s Caxton Bar was used regularly by SIS, MI5 and Naval Intelligence Division case officers to meet their agents. Eventual defectors Guy Burgess and Kim Philby frequently met their Russian counterparts in the bar to hand over top-secret government files. In 1940, Churchill, asked a group of individuals that were later to become the SOE, to “set Europe ablaze” and they initially housed themselves over an entire floor of the hotel.
St. Ermin’s is a member of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection.
