There has never been a more critical time to save water, when such a sizeable proportion of the energy we use is to heat it. If we are using less water, we are heating less and that will result in substantial savings within a hospitality business.
So, whether you are a catering establishment or a sizeable hotel with ensuites and shower rooms to consider, there are retrofittable and affordable products that can be purchased today that will reduce your energy bills.
Neoperl UK has been manufacturing pressure compensating flow regulators for over 50 years. It’s what they specialise in and ship across the world. Their products control the flow of water, regardless of external pressure, and they have been supplying them to tap, shower and boiler manufacturers for decades. They are small precision-made devices that give longevity to the products that they are fitted within, and Neoperl produce millions a year, making them one of the largest global producers.

Today they offer a range of retrofittable products that can be easily fitted into bathroom taps, valve showers and there’s even a special fitting for a kitchen tap that allows it to be on an economy water flow as a default for rinsing dishes and washing hands but is ‘boostable’ if a sink needs filling quickly.
The Neoperl Ecobooster is fitted on the spout of a tap. In default it provides an economical flow of water but with the touch of a button a boost flow is activated to quickly fill a sink.
New taps and valve showers are manufactured and set to an optimum flow rate so that they work well in any area, no matter what the prevailing water pressure rate might be. The result is that when installed in many circumstances they have a higher flow rate than required resulting in lots of clean heated water simply been lost down the drain. The technology is available now to reduce that flow of water very easily, it’s about assessing how well the tap or shower works within the environment it’s fitted, and then taking action with a plumber to reduce its flow. If a tap is splashing water out of the washroom sink and it’s only used for washing hands, then the flow needs reducing. Likewise, most standard European showers today produce around 18 litres of water a minute and yet an equally comfortable shower is possible from a shower head delivering around 12 litres of water per minute. If one considers a 7-minute shower, that’s 42 litres of water saved by one shower and 42 litres less water to heat using expensive energy.
These Pressure Compensating devices can be retrofitted in minutes by inserting at the end of a tap spout or upstream of the shower outlet, to reduce and regulate the water flow.
Neoperl UK is a leading manufacturer of pressure compensating aerators (PCA) and flow regulator devices. Based in Malvern in Worcestershire they manufacture many different sizes.
