Three weeks ago, gold key media engaged with the masterinnholders and the AICR suggesting that if hoteliers were able to source, supply and donate essential items being requested by refugee centres across Poland, they would collect these donated items from anywhere within the UK.
The collected items were then consolidated into their Barnet warehouse and shipped directly to the refugee centre in Warsaw bus depot that had been hurriedly set up by the mayor of Warsaw’s office for onward shipment to refugee centres across Poland and on the Ukraine/Poland border.
By utilising the resources of industry partners Bauer media and the frontline group, they have managed to secure empty space in trucks returning to Poland, that regularly deliver magazines to the UK that are printed weekly in Poland.
So far, in the short space of three weeks, over 100 tons of essential items such as toiletries, medical kits, towels, linen, sleeping bags, dry foods etc. Have been donated by hotels across the UK and delivered directly to refugee centres across Poland, as requested by the mayor of Warsaw.
This urgent call for help and action was answered magnificently by uk hoteliers.
